Application

Warehouses, pallet storage areas and logistics aisles

A warehouse application example should communicate scale first: tall racks, long aisles, clear floor circulation and visible vertical storage faces. For round UFO high bays, the distant fixture should appear mainly as a round light spot rather than a visible product close-up.

Application Challenge

Rack storage areas need light to reach aisle floors, pallet faces and shelf labels. Tall racks can create shadows, while too many fixtures or poorly selected optics can make the ceiling look bright without improving useful visibility at rack level.

Lighting Design Goals

Improve aisle and pallet-face visibility for picking, inspection and forklift movement
Keep fixture spacing realistic for a high-ceiling warehouse
Avoid dense, unrealistic ceiling light grids in application imagery
Show round light spots only for round high bay products when the fixtures are far overhead

Lighting Solution

The recommended approach is to define rack height, aisle width and mounting height first, then select UFO high bay wattage and optics for the target aisle pattern. Motion or daylight controls can be considered for storage areas with intermittent traffic.

Controls and Mounting

Aisle-oriented spacing helps reduce shadowing from tall rack rows
Motion sensors can reduce energy use in low-occupancy zones when allowed by the project
Emergency lighting and exit paths should be reviewed separately according to local code
Fixture mounting should leave forklift clearance and maintenance access

Engineering Support
